Conductor and musical director

Hans-Christian Euler studied violin in Hanover and London. He became a founding member of the Orchestra of the 18th Century in Amsterdam in 1981 and played in the Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hanover from 1983 to 2020. He has given concerts and courses in various European countries, Israel, Australia and China.

In 2005, Hans-Christian Euler founded the Nordstadt-Konzerte concert series in Hanover and now conducts the Hanover Chamber Orchestra. Based on his knowledge and experience in the field of historically informed performance practice and new music, he is committed to unusual programme concepts.

Hannover Chamber Orchestra

In 2005, Hans-Christian Euler founded the chamber orchestra ‘Pro Artibus Hannover’, which was renamed ‘Kammerorchester Hannover’ (or ‘Hannover Chamber Orchestra’) in 2018 due to its increasing international activities. In 1964, an orchestra with this name was founded by Hans-Herbert Jöris, then principal conductor of the Hanover State Opera. In 1990, he handed over the baton to Adam Kostecki, concertmaster of the Hanover State Opera. With his consent, the illustrious name was passed on and is kept alive in concert life.

Since then, the orchestra has performed regularly in Hanover, as well as in other parts of Germany and abroad. Together with its conductor, it shares an interest in historically informed performance practice of 18th-century music as well as music of the 20th and 21st centuries. In recent years, it has focused on music by Mauricio Kagel, Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Hans-Werner Henze, Wolfgang Rihm and Isang Yun. The orchestra has performed at various festivals in France, Italy, Poland and South Korea (Daegu and Tongyeong) as part of international collaborations.

For concerts with a large symphonic ensemble, for which the name chamber orchestra is not sufficient, the name Hannover Symphony Orchestra is used.

The Hanover Chamber Orchestra and its conductor regard concert education as an essential contribution to the cultural education of younger generations. Most concert programmes are therefore presented in special concerts for children and young people as part of the dress rehearsal on the day of the concert.
