Concert details
The Hanover Chamber Orchestra performs in cooperation with the winner of the Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition in Rouen.
The competition took place at the end of October – and the winner was Panagiotis Giannakas from Athens! We congratulate him warmly on this great success and look forward to making music with him. The concerts are part of the prize for the winner.
The programme can be seen on 8 November at St. Mauritius in Hildesheim and on 9 November at the Theater Meppen.

Panagiotis Giannakas
Clarinet
Panagiotis Giannakas, born in 2000, studied at the Athens Conservatory with Spyros Mourikis and later with Romain Guyot at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva. He has already won several international competitions: in 2022, he was awarded third prize at the Carl Nielsen Competition, and previously won second prize at the Concours International de Cluj and second prize at the Cittá di Carlino clarinet competition. He is a scholarship holder of various foundations in Greece and Switzerland.
Since 2022, he has been principal clarinetist with the Athens State Orchestra and has shared the stage with numerous famous soloists and conductors, including Leonidas Kavakos, Gautier Capuçon, Simon Rattle, Christoph Poppen, Maxim Vengerov and Vassilis Christopoulos. Concert tours have taken him to various European countries and the USA, where he has also performed at Carnegie Hall. As a soloist, he has been a guest performer with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Athens City Symphony Orchestra and the Athens Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. He regularly receives invitations to the Verbier Festival, the Pablo Casals Festival and Le Publinge Classique in Switzerland.
